October 2018: Fighting Against Corruption and the Abuse of Power

October 2018: Fighting Against Corruption and the Abuse of Power In October 2018, my efforts were focused on exposing the corrupt activities that have long plagued Rasova and fighting against the abuse of power. Throughout this month, I reached out to multiple institutions, including the Prefecture of Constanța, to raise awareness of the actions of our local authorities and to demand transparency and accountability.   I had meetings with Carmen Paun, a senior advisor at the Prefecture, and presented detailed complaints about how funds meant for public use were mismanaged and how certain illegal practices, such as unauthorized construction permits and unequal distribution of community resources, were taking place. My persistence in pushing for an investigation of these activities forced the authorities to acknowledge our concerns, although real changes were yet to come.   Despite the ongoing threats, slander, and isolation that I faced from the local government, I did not back down. They attempted to discredit me in front of my fellow residents, labeling me as an outsider with grandiose and impossible ambitions. However, I firmly believe that every resident has the right to demand better governance, and that our combined voices are stronger than those who try to divide us. The fight for justice is ongoing, but every step we take in the right direction brings us closer to the transparent and just community we deserve.
